Hi guys,

Just paid up for another year. Was contemplating selling my terrano at the beginning of the summer, but every time I drive it I just cant. Tows the best out off all the vehicles I've used aswell. MOT due soon, fingers crossed.

Also picked up this Xtrail for £200 at the end of July. MOT until Feb. Really nice car. And I have to say it goes of road really well.
Drove it up to the adventure overland show at the weekend and it's just a nice drive. I love my Terry but it is abit of a tractor.

Ground clearance is an issue though. I had to turn around on one lane.

Another angle. It was really wet and on standard road tires. I thought I might have to get a few of the landys about to give me a tow but it ate it up.

Another one in the Terry late June.
I had to get out and have a look and was quite disapointed. Inside it felt like I was about to tip over

Where do you go laning? Rick

GregT 03-10-2019 14:27

Hi Rick, Both those where in wales. Treecastle I think.

No decent ones around us that I know off.

The lanes and the motors look great.

Just have a look under the boot carpet in the xtrail and check there is no rust stained water dribbles been running down from behind the side trims. They are prone to rotting the strut top mountings out and that’s a sign. Whilst it is still a few drops of water they can be fixed easy enough but by the time the inner side trims have burst open the trucks a write off.

Love the Terrano to bits mate, it's nice to see a modified Mk1!!!

And I love the Xtrail, only for the fact that you paid £200 for it :lol :bow

GregT 04-10-2019 11:46

Cheers Jim. Will check that.

Thanks Banshee, call me biased but I do prefer the look of the old square headlights.

£200 is not bad it's got a good history, not my best though. £50 Punto a couple of years ago, didn't cost me anything to get it through the MOT so £90 with a years ticket. Drove it for 2 months then sold it for £500 :D
Though I spent that on an l200 that didn't need much... drove if of the trailer and the engine seized... It's all fun and games

I looked at the X trail a few years back but lack of low box put me off.
As a light laner/tow motor they are supposed to be pretty good.

Just got my Terry through it's MOT!

Only needed a new brake pipe to the load sensor and i welded up the rad support before it went in. NO advisories! :D

Well done Greg that’s great, these old tugs are brilliant aren’t they.
:thumbs

Cheers guys. I'm well chuffed.

Pondering with the idea of lifting it now....
