New owner - 1994 Terrano 2 2.4SFI

Hello guys.

After other 4x4 (Vitara 1.9TD and Pajero LWB 2.8TD) now it's time for a Terrano.

The one i'm trying to buy is a 1994 Terrano 2 with a 2.4 petrol engine.
Here in Portugal, this model is rare, the 2.7TD is the king.

So i can't find informations about the car here.

Can you help?

Things like engine reliability? Diff Ratios? Does all the Terrano 2 came with LSD ? Etc...

Any info is welcome.

Thanks.

Welcome aboard, it’s mid morning here so give it a few hours for people to reply to you. I’m sure you’ll get some info as we have a few members with some advice for you.

Thanks.

This morning i did a test drive in the Terrano and i like'd.
It's from 1994 but it was well taken cared. Some plastics are old and white, but that is expected... 24 years old.

It has 169980Km (105620 miles) and its does match the mileage on the latests MOT.

I think i will buy it... what do you think?

And because we like pictures!!!

I have had several 2.4i they have more low down torque than the 2.7 but soon looses it as the revs climb, great towing motors, diff ratio is 4.625 teeth 37/8 the 2.7 is 4.375 teeth 35/8, if it rattles on startup it could be the ends but more likely the timing chain, if they get really bad then the chain can rub through the waterway to the water pump with disastrous consequences, yes they all have LSD on the rear, as for reliability they are very good, anything else you want to know just ask, Rick

News in a couple of days.

Thanks for the feedback.
I didn't notice any strange noises from the engine, even in cold start.

The problems will appear next week!

Like all things cared for well they last longer, and yours looks well cared for, others on here can advise on tyres, not my area on normal road going, my off road motor has 750x16 dumper tyres, you can look up the diameter on tyre comparison sites, I think they are 31 but cannot remember, but they do hit the rear rear inner arches quite hard at times when one wheel is in a hole, Rick

jims-terrano 14-03-2018 21:48

That is a nice looking Terrano and yes it does look well cared for doesn’t it.

I will collect the Terrano tomorrow, so new batch of photos will be available.
To document the start of the project!

The forum doesn't have a search function?

It does once you pay your tenner, as does it open up the downloads section, Rick
