Well..

Friend has a navara d40.
Where best place to get winch bumper,

And

Who can we get discount from for being members here??

jims-terrano 20-03-2020 23:41

Was it the D40 that suffered the chassis snapping? If so might be better selling truck.

zippy656 21-03-2020 09:17

He's only. Just. Got rit.

jims-terrano 21-03-2020 09:31

I think his first job is to get the chassis checked around rear axle. Think it’s effected several models of the nav and pathy.

Chassis snaps in half. At one point Nissan gave option of a replacement chassis or they buy the vehicle back.

panelbeater 21-03-2020 15:20

yes nasty that is saw a vid of one with it and when it reversed the back went up like a bucking bronto.
i would have thought that all bad ones should have been found by now though.
he better get it inspecter on ramp to be safe.they did a shassis repair plates that was welded over suspect area.

macabethiel 22-03-2020 02:36

Chassis recall

I think if if he puts the VRM on the govt mot check website the recal is listed if it's outstanding.

terranosaurusdoug 22-03-2020 03:59

Do milners do them??

jims-terrano 22-03-2020 08:33

Reckon this video says it all. Be aware that this problem and the timing chain issues are on a range of models and year.
This bloke is a bit of a chump and his business seems to keep shutting down but that’s another story.

Not sure but looking at the underneath it looks like concrete splashing residue everywhere. There is no doubt there was a lack of proper rust prevention and probably not the best steel used - that said I had an old 260E Merc and the rear calipers rotted through due to cement contamination by a previous owner. The cast iron looked like it had been in the sea for 10 year - it was like a flaky biscuit! The previous owner had jet washed it underneath regularly but missed the rear brakes.

Seen this Zippy, much cheaper than the ARB ones that are about £1500.

Yeh but that's not a Navara bumper Doug so will need fettling.

I'm surprised there isn't more offering on eBay to be honest :nenau

Jim, macabethiel, guys lets stay on point here ie. winch bumpers.

He didn't ask about the chassis issues and I think we can assume Zippy's mate has checked the chassis thing as part of his purchase checks.

Try Gforce4x4.co.uk Zippy:thumb2

I know you could take them in to a nissan dealer for a free check at one point.
One of the main causes was how the rear was loaded.
Too much arse end weight will cause a lever effect and put stress o n a certain point in the chassis.
Not just exclusive to the D40,many other pick ups suffer with the same issue.

Sorry, panelbeater too.

My point was Zippy asked about winch bumpers, not the well documented chassis issues :nenau
