Hi I'm back too

Hi everyone I'm back as well. Sold my Mistral last April but last week it came back home in a very sorry state ( long story ) Spent a week working on it and now just needs some tyres for the mot. Tyres should be here early next week so onwards and upwards.

You like a long story ?

Ok, Had my Mistral for nearly eight years, but didn't use it between December last year and last April, so when a mate asked if it was for sale I let it go on a pay some every week deal. As he drove off I regretted selling it, more so cos it kangarooed off up the road, bad two footed driving !

The pay some every week didn't last long and the fella was getting harder and harder to find, that was until he broke down, then it was 127 texts in two hours !!

Car wont always start and when it does runs really rough with loads of white smoke. I spent half an hour on the phone explaining that it would be air in the fueline, and got him to look at the clear pipes either side of the fuel filter and check for air, sure enough air in the pipe. I replaced the metal fuel line about three years ago, so told him to replace fuel pipe from the tank right through.

Ten phone calls and a week later he still cant get it too run, will I go over to Hstings and have a look, bearing in mind that the car is still half mine I thought I better had, when i get there he has not replaced the fueline, his mate took it off and blew through it and said nothing wrong with that ! another long conversation re the difference between sucking and blowing !!

A fortnight later, I get a call, replaced the pipe and it ran ok for a few minutes now full of air again can you fix it for me ? On the understanding that he would have to pay what he owes plus the repairs I arranged to have the car recovered back here where i can have a proper look.

Got it home and just put the battery on charge that night ready for a start in the morning. First time I tried to start it all it would do is turn over very slowly, battery ? As I went under the bonnet I could smell something was hot, a finger on the back end of the starter soon told me what was the problem.

A new starter from Euro car parts, another new fuel line right up to the fuel filter, and then from filter to the pump and a new return pipe, all properly cable tied nice and neatly unlike the last one, and we were ready to try it, car started first time and runs lovely, new air filter, engine oil change, and a brake light bulb and its time to phone the mot station and book a test.

The car was filthy inside, actually it needed fumigating !!! so that was sorted.

Car went for mot last Monday and failed on three tyres with one anti roll bar bush as an advisory.

Tyres should be here early next week and the old Mistral lives for at least another year ! Who knows if it will be with me or A.N. Other we will have to see. Tink it might be me to be honest !

Told you it was a long story

Hi there. Soul destroying seeing how some people treat their motors. Especially when you've owned it for so long. Hopefully it doesn't cost you much to buy it back.
Being paid in instalments doesn't seem to work well anymore I've found. I learnt a lesson on that a while back. Still owed a few hundred 2 year on, but he's a good mate still and he's good for it..... [emoji15]

Welcome back steveN
Crazy story about your motor, personally I would keep it.
He has broke his deal with you by not paying regular.
A mans word is a mans bond.
If a man hasn't got his word to count on what has he got.......?
Simples!
Not your motor!

If you feel you need to pay him his money back, I reckon a little every now and then:lol

Welcome back and keep the truck, far easier.

SteveN 16-10-2015 23:34

Well the deadline has been and gone, so the truck is staying !!

Fitted some 16 inch alloys with Insa turbo tyres on it yesterday, all mot'd now and been poodling about in it today and have to say it does run nicely now.

Will try and add a pic of it over the weekend.
