breaking down in the rain

Hi good folks! looking for help with an ongoing issue with my 1997 teranno regulus 3.150 it has a bad habit of just cutting out when its raining....try to turn it over and it fires over very fast and will not start unless you pump the brake and keep pumping, when it fires it blows out black smoke and makes an occasional air sucking sound? when it's dry she runs like a dream. any leads on how to order the correct od1 to diagnose any issues as i would love to keep her but its not safe for winter driving that she could just cut on the motorway randomly.

Hi not sure what a Regulus is, but cannot see how pumping the brakes makes any difference, my best guess given the information provided is that you are getting water ingress into the inlet manifold, try removing the air filter, is it wet or signs of being wet? am sure someone with more knowledge on the Regulus will be along soon, Rick
