WANTED : Bosch injectors for 2.7

I am planning to learn to refurb my injectors but would like to remain mobile. Hence does anyone have any old, knackered, unloved or unwanted Bosch injectors that I could play with? I know there is currently a full set including No 1 injector on EBay for £160 but was hoping to get started for less. Even just the casing would be useful as a cheap nozzle from China (yes, bound to be made of cheese) is under a tenner and would serve as something functional to work on.

Think I have some that could do with looking at taking up space in my workshop, will have a look and let you know, Rick

Two top tips re injectors, (1) remove the needle and hold it in your hand for ten mins at the same time place the body on something cold like a vice or cold block of metal, then try to insert the needle into the body, it should not go till they get near to each others temperature, (2) rinse body and needle in clean fuel insert needle holding the body vertical, the needle must drop under its own to the bottom, lift and turn a bit and repeat it should always drop on its own, if it meets these two tests then so far so good, Rick

Cheers Rick. I particularly like the body temp test, so simple yet so precise, absolutely brilliant!

Is there a difference between the nozzle for the different power output 2.7 engines? I am trying to track down new nozzles but there seems to be a host of different Bosch nozzles that are used.

Working from the Nissan part number the nozzle for my 1998 Tdi 92Kw seems to be 166207F400 which then gives Bosch 0 434 250 164.

However there is also a 166200F000 = Bosch : 9 432 610 199 which apparently is equivalent to Bosch H 105 007 121

I know that the injectors in the 2.7 Cabstar for instance have a higher crack off pressure but are these different nozzles likely to have different delivery volumes? Where can I find a breakdown of the full specifications for these things?

Hmmmm never done a comparison before, but you have given me food for thought, so in hunting for TD 27 Bosch injectors also found my old RD28 nozzles.

RD28 = DNOSDN 187

TD27 = DNOSD 252 + /

The only difference I can see on an initial check is that the needle size where it passes through the body orifice is larger on the 28 than on the 27 the orifice being the same which will follow as the 28 being 6 cylinder will require slightly less fuel per bang than the 27,the sizes are 37 thou for the 27 and 38 for the 28

In all other respects the nozzles are the same although I was not able to see the volume available at the bottom of the needle.

Net result of all this is that I will be keeping the 2.7 injectors as poss donors for my 2.8 Rick

Just thought that for those that are unfamiliar with this item here is a pick, the left is the 2.7 right 2.8, Rick

Just a bit more info as I discover it, on close examination of the needle I first thought that the 2.7 one I had was damaged but on stripping more injectors found they are all the same in that there is a flat on the 2nd diameter down from the tip you can just see it in this pic

Better in this one, what its purpose is I do not know, more investigation needed, Rick
