I wonder what has changed then, you may need to look into seeing if this relates to a manufacturing date...

On my 1999 T2, I followed the XPAJUN instructions, slackened the UJ pinch bolt located on the steering shaft, and allowed the UJ on to side about 2mm down the splines. I did not undo the bolt on the steering box side, as this one does not have any adjustment in it, but while there, I did check to make sure it was done up properly.

I had to give it a couple of taps to make sure it slid down enough to relax the donut, and because I had read the issues Alex had, I decided to check and make sure there was plenty of shaft still in the UJ. I poked a jewellers screwdriver into the slot in the side, and the shaft was still past that, so meaning there was at least 20mm still inside the UJ.
