Thumbs up Cascais Portugal fond memories circa summer of 1967

I was a crew member on a small yacht that was a converted fisher with a Perkins engine (50ft) flat out engine & sail was 8 Knots. We sailed from North Wales Port Dinorwic via Newlyn to Barcelona - it took just over 3 weeks calling at Coruna in Northern Spain, fueling at Cascais & Gibraltar.

We had a terrible crossing over the bay of Biscay Force 4-5. The Levanta in the Straights of Gibraltar were so strong we were barely making 1 knot. We headed into Motril in Southern Spain to shelter for a couple of days until the wind dropped.

I love Portugal and have had quite a few proper holidays there on the Algarve after the Revolution in 1974.

Love the machinery was a common site in Spain in the 1960's.
