The trouble is, my wife is a Londoner, and the first time I took her to the Lake District, she freaked out, because when out walking on the hills, every time someone walked the other way, they said "Hello", and some even stopped to talk about inane things... So while I laughed at it, she thought it was real!!!
Luckily, I'm a country boy, from deepest darkest Kent, and we have always been a friendly bunch down there, after all, it was the place where anyone invading the UK landed, so we got used to dealing with strangers!!
I think we automatically say hello to everyone to double check their nationality.
No flat cap for me though, I tried one on, and it took a week for Suz's to stop laughing.
