What Is It About A Terrano
What is it about driving a Terrano?
Just been out shopping in the Skoda, it’s a great little car and the 1.2 TSi has a reasonable amount of poke too. It’s comfortable hasn’t got all the bells n whistles but has a few nice bits. Got loads of room and has loads more room than sat in the drivers seat of the Terrano. It’s economical but have known more economical cars. It doesn’t look particularly bad though it’s no 4x4. This is the but I get in the Terranos and love it. It’s comfortable enough but not the most spacious in the front seats. Certainly can’t say they’re economical and certainly not the automatic though the 3 litre is a lot better. Terranos are getting long in the tooth really these days. I still love the trucks, looks great and does everything I ask of them. Has anyone else got thos affliction? |

for me it's the space inside. Haven't found the drivers space cramped though. Also the 2.7 motor is pretty bullet proof and they are pretty handy off road as well if needed. The mpg is better than I thought it would be as well. The boss says she can't get really comfy driving it (means I get to drive it more ).
The downside is the rust. Mine looks nice on the outside but rusty underneath it all. Oh, and the lack of storage space in the front. Drives me mental. |

It's the only car I've ever had that makes me grin every, that's EVERY, time I drive it.

yip i suffer this too.
i drive a 3.2ltr 6 speed Ford Ranger every day.........its crap, just crap, or maybe just sole less, yes it tows better, yes its bigger (terribly laid out though), yes its more economical but i still do not love it. I have 97 T2, not as grunty as the Ranger but i love it. There is one big benefit for me, I can sleep in mine lying flat, when you're beach fishing this is a god send. If there are any beach or carp fishermen on here i am sure they can testify the ridiculous amount of gear goes on a weekend fishing, plus food etc. The T2 just holds its all (mine is only the front seats) I loved the T2 so much i bought another to be my off road toy. so yea....i hear ya Jim regards |

well on 3rd with a y61 back then.
have my eye on a late t2 3.0 auto, late enough to get centre 3 point belt, then again might look for a trol of same age, a 55 plate to save on the rfl. trol was too big as only car but now would be one of two consider again. still like the pathfinders but knowing some have iffy chassis is off putting.

The Vehicle Attraction Syndrome (VAS)
There are just some vehicles that hit the spot at a moment in time not always the price, looks or speed just being at one with a machine when driven and ticking the right boxes you need ticking.
Sometimes its the utilitarian factor like my first VW Beetle in the 1970's, then for me it was the original Mini Cooper S. I have driven and also owned a heap of vehicles since then but the next in line for the VAS award was our beloved Terrano r3mR. Not sure if it was because it was our first proper 4x4 (as nice as it was our Merc 300TE 4-Matic don't really count) but it has not been bettered by the Santa Fe or our Jeeps. |

I get a grin factor of 11/10 just driving mine around....
SWMBO has a functional relatively economical Renault Megane.....it kills my back and is so boring to drive.... |

it was our joint second choice.
I wanted a disco and mrs wanted a shogun. The disco, series 1, ruled itself out as we were well out of the reach of the longer bodied s2/d2 with forward face 3rd row, Mrs wouldn't entertain the side ways seats of the s1/d1. Later I rode in one after got the t2 and knew had made right choice, regardless of nissan v lr banter. suppose there is still some feeling for the later discos well d2 and d3, along with more recent shoguns, well that 3.2did is a motor. Reckon Nissan and Mitsi are more related so wouldn't be such a traitor? Still not afraid to abuse T2, and many I speak to liken them to where the defender should have gone years ago, yes its agricultural but several lanes ahead of the lr. Still feel that we have something in that transfer lever, none of this dial and solenoid business, another bullet proof feature. Maybe the trucks are a bit bland to outsiders but thats what used to say about our daewoo nubira, but that was no notice, always there, turn key motoring another appliance in the household. Long may it continue.

For me the Terrano has been an excellent working/towing vehicle. I bought it to tow various Ifor Williams trailers often towing off road or in tight difficult places so 4x4 low is used most days.
I couldn't think of a better truck than the Terrano for this type of work. Only improvement I would make is fitting manual free wheeling hubs so that I could use 2wd low. |

My Terrano can do anything and everything on or off road, She's comfortable, doesn't look like a monster truck or tonka toy and is extremely reliable! Drives well, sounds great and I love the way She looks, awesome
