12s Socket. stupid question!

I have no 12s socket on my T2 but i do have an unused Anderson socket on the tow bar (the type used for jump leads etc.) this has a thick positive cable that leads back to the battery. Would it be feasible to use this as a positive supply for a 12s socket? Bear in mind it is straight to the car battery with no fuse or relay!

Connect the smart relay with in line fuse should be fine but not direct to socket as when hocked up and engine not running u could drain cars battery that's the way I would do it

so! do I connect the smart relay under the bonnet and just use the existing + cable to the Anderson socket? and then remove the socket? Or connect it in the back and leave the Anderson in place? I assume under the bonnet to make the wiring runs simple.

and bear in mind the live to the Anderson socket is BIG! the size of a jump lead

I hadn't thought of a smartcom relay despite having used them before

What I am looking for is something as simple as possible

At the end of the cable I.e near tow bar I would bare back little bit of the wire solder in smaller fly lead which would go to a inline fuse then that smart relay then wrap up bare wire with waterproof tape job done

You should put an inline fuse in the live wire close to the battery and rate it as low as possible for the current needed.

fly smartcom and its fuse off back of anderson.

dont think there would be a fuse big enough for
anderson. that said i would prefer to see an
isolater switch for it under bonnet or in cabin.

I agree, very high current, it is disconnected at the battery at present as I though it would do it no good at all if it got wet

I may just run another smaller cable along side it for the 12s socket.
