can try adding some forwarders perhaps, but as Bat says, its a DNS issue with the move of the web site. they havent (or someone hasnt)updated thier dns records correctly, they need to fix it, its nothing to do with this website, and probably not the new hosts fault either but if nobody wants to fix it we will continue with these issues. I get the same problem on my smartphone, which is Orange, so it seems to me its an issue with the 3g service which must use different servers perhaps, and its these that will have screwed up dns records. probably.

OK. Just trying to help & figure out where the problem lies.... I run servers at home, at the office, and online......

Are the website and the domain name held by the same company or different ones ? e.g. I have a load of domains held with a domain registrar and I can then point them off to whatever website I want them to. However, I have a couple where the domain and the website are hosted by the same company. It's obviously much easier to sort if you have control of your DNS records. From what I have read, I don't think I'm the only one with the problem though. Quote:

I also have total control of the DNS records too But as stated many times... I have no control of what Orange have buggered up If the problem is this end then why is it only affecting Orange customers. As you seem to be more familiar with techie stuff, next time you can't get on the site can you run a tracert and tell me where it stops |

Yes... big time - to the point I've stopped visiting as often as I'd like.
I'm not with orange either. I don't get the issue with other sites which are fine. Very sporadic. Sometimes if I delete the web address linking directly to the forum and type it in a just nissan4x4ownersclub.com it will allow me to get to the main host page and then get to the forum via the link... though most of the time I can't even get to the main index page either. I too have run a server from home in the past for my CCTV system so am not a clueless nube in this respect. I'm with Zen who are probably the best ISP.... IN THE WORLD (because I wanted a number of incoming ports to my address)... All I know is the sites inaccessible 1/3rd of the time... from prior to joining as when I googled it the first time and tried I just thought it was another dead in the water club with an old link to a server that no longer ran. I'm sure I'm not alone in that observation... it was only persistance and a visit another day that revealed that the site is here still.... occasionally! In fact... I'm begining to think it a Nissan thing as www.thenissanpath.com where I end up when this site is down also ends up being down at the end of the month - but thats because they have bandwith issues.. ie. need to up their quota.. but they know that and its nothing at all to do with the isses connecting here. |
