on the road lpg prices vary but a lot of stations wont let you fill up unless fitted in unit.
when van parked up i connect a 47kg to heat it when i stay in it,needed a calour refill but cost £72 delivered,my mate there had 2 as well but when he told me how much i nearly fainted,he is near thetford forrest,i am in clacton,i phoned around here as i have lpg at home for cooking and the same was £52 calour or £53 flowgas,he was not happy and phoned calour and got thats the price,so i say why the difference.
i took my 1 of my 47s up there but its not worth the 140 mile and heaving about to get them there from here.
he used to turn upside down a 47 to fill his smaller bottles but i sort them now as he had a leak when i was ther and stoped him doing that for safty.he is 84 still able bit like jim.
when i was at jims for the extended stay i put my last bottle of gas on and jim offered me some but i had enough, want to talk to jim about his lpg set up sometime.
i am thinking about a chinese heater to boost my large front room 28x19 as it takes so long to heat it so i leave oil heating on 24 seven .
Filling Calor bottles at petrol stations is illegal!!!

There's a stand alone option too, not to impressed with the 4 outlets though.

Default This talk about Calor Gas reminded me of a local incident!!

A one time locally famous comedian who was in his late 70's was badly burnt and his house severely damaged when he was trying to change the top of his gas cylinder.

He somehow managed to loosen the boss resulting in jet of gas igniting and sending a massive blow torch of gas into the air that burnt a hole in his ceiling and through the roof. He had severe hand & facial burns but lived to tell the tale as did his Pet Bird !

I kid you not his stage name Sid Burns! The incident was about 30 years ago.

Hey that looks good, with a longer length of exhaust could be ok for tents or to leave in the house in case of emergencies, obviously the exhaust fumes are the main consideration though!

The big problem here is that there is no way that overfilling can be controlled, on refillable cylinders there is a float that cuts the supply at about 80% so giving room for expansion, on a camping type cylinder it can be filled 100% so what happens when the cylinder warms up? big bang, Rick

There are refillable onboard gas kits available for motor homes, the cylinder is bolted to the chassis and you have a filling inlet of somekind fitted to the side of the vehicle. Simply go to filling station and fill up, different adapters available for these as nozzles are different around Europe apparently. Wonder if these have the 80% limiters or are these illegal too?

i never overfill,a 6kg will take 12ltr but always under fill by 1 or 2 ltr to give the 80%,but the pump stops, if a somebody does not know what he is doing well bad things might happem.
there are films out there showing the refilling of the bottles on the commersial sites and it is filled the same way as i fill mine up except there pump only delivers the correct amount of gas where i have to watch and stop pump befor it gets to the ltrs as they tend to run on a tad.
the pump has not got the pressure to overfill it cuts out same as a gas cer pump till pump stops.
calour do not like it because they want the cash on exchange prices.
