Exactly.... if it is all about getting points, the banter will go, and people will feel like they can't throw in an idea on the off chance. Not to mention often the side lines are as informative as the subject, so why would anyone want to stop that.

Having seen how seriously some people on forums take post counts, I dread to think what they would be like with "Like" or "Thanks" counts...

At the end of the day, you can easily hit the "Quote" button, and then insert an emoticon to show your support or displeasure on posts.

Think I tend to agree with Clive, free and easy, Rick

Some good comments guys and I'm glad that I posted the idea up as it has provoked some interesting thought process

I still see a place for it but also don't want to lose what the forum has now and agree somewhat with those who have opted against

I can see both sides to this discussion, I think its good to praise people that come up with helpful information that helps us all on here keep our trucks running and to modify them. Quantity is not always quality
The other side of the discussions is about not creating a divide so it maybe best to leave things as they are!!!

We can make do without though

Cant the OP just say what was best answer, might be a combination of replies.

Am sure all do anyway, courtesy after all.

Many threads are open ended, and resolves are from practical experience than
just reading from a non existent Haynes manual.
