I wanted to take a 1"-1/2 to 2" off to get rid of rot but that will hit filler cap

Yesterday I trimed ( a lot ) off the rear near side, to day, welding the skins together & seam sealing them, next weekend, the hard off side with the filler cap, its gonna be close...

How do you get around this on a major trim? Relocate the filler tube?
