Men's Health - get it checked!

This applies to the ladies as well.

On the 23rd April 2018 I had a small Mole removed from my shoulder as my GP thought it could be "iffy". It did not hurt or bleed it just seemed to become quite raised over the last few months - were talking 1.4 mm in size.

I was due for a routine follow up appointment at the end of this month with Dermatology had a phone call on Monday this week saying I need to be seen ASAP so they saw me on Tuesday (22nd May 2018).

Turns out it's a malignant Melanoma, they intend to dig out a bit more tissue as a precaution. Also have been offered a Sentinel Lymph node biopsy procedure.

Am seeing a specialist Nurse next Tuesday to talk through the options, see Skin Graft Surgeon on the 14th June, if I go for the biopsy thing it is done at Nottingham.

I suspect that nothing invasive will be done until they finish my heart stenting on the 21st June 2018.

TBH the timing is a bit inconvenient to say the least as house rebuild completion is going to be in the same month!

God bless our NHS and if you have an Iffy Mole get it checked out!!

I'm blessed with a population of the little buggers, and had one removed from my leg when I was younger.
Little reminders to remain aware of any change like this are a good thing.

Are you opting to have the biopsy?

I too have always had plenty of the little buggers!

I am not sure about the biopsy option, I have a meeting tomorrow to talk through the whole process with a specialist skin cancer nurse. Oddly enough the biopsy has no effect on clinical outcomes plus it's more operation scars/sites. If the radioactive lymph (drain) tracking shows that two different Lymph Gland sites are involved it could mean removing nodes from my neck & armpit.

They then test the removed nodes a process that takes about a month before you know if the cancer is likely to have spread. On the plus side if the result is clear then you know its sorted.

Well had a good meeting this morning with the Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist who talked Wendy & I through everything. Turns out they might not give me the Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy option because of my Heart issues all depends what the Plastic Surgeon says on Tuesday.

House rebuild is moving forward well in the circumstances we hope it might be done by the 20th of next month........

Went into the Derby Royal on Saturday (2/6/18), they did further excision of the wound where they remove my 1.4 mm mole a few weeks earlier.

The Plastic Surgeon said i would just feet a "little scratch"as he injected the local anesthetic in around 8 places around the old wound. TBH it hurt to the point of letting out a couple of muffled ahh's.

After that I did not feel any pain at all as he dug round to remove adjacent tissue and then closed up with soluble sutures internal & external.

Over the last few days it's just been very sore if I lean back and put pressure on the area otherwise good. When I drive I just raise my right shoulder off the seat back and all is good. I expect it will now ease as the bruising / swelling reduces.

No Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy done due to my pre-existing heart condition. Booked for the 21 st June for a couple more stents and I should be as good as new.

House rebuild is cracking on - we expect a good chance of completion between 15th-20th June ahead of the penalty date of 26th June.

Good news Mac......hope the discomfort eases soon....good luck with the house renovation.....it is grand that things are moving forward positively.....

A 'little scratch'........why do they always say that.......

I hate needles at the best of times.......
