You are entitled to your opinions Jace however I think you will find you are in the minority.

Personal car travel produces 13 per cent of the UK's total greenhouse gas emissions and it contributes to local air pollution and congestion. Source http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Environm...avel/DG_064428

I;m with knotting pot in that we all ought to do our little bit for the nvironment no matter how small, and it is short sighted to think there is no need, get a compost bin, low energy bulbs, turn your heating down, cut out a couplt of journey's a week and drive more carefully!

But I dont believe taxing us off the raod and high fuelk prices is the answer, we alow millins of cheap 2 strok engined bikes form china every years, milions of tons of cheap fireworks, no exhaust control on off raod vehicles, no emmissions checks on new vehilces for 3 years!!!!

surely there is room to take up a bit more environmental 'slack' before trying to price us off the road?

the main impact of high fuel prices will not be lower emmisions, but merely high inflation! leading to more corner cutting more journey's and ultimately more ploution!

id say with our modern turbo diesel engines were not creating any more polution than say a 1.8 morris ital (luvely!) so even though there two-three times cars on road there all more fuel eficent and cleaner than yesteryrs cars so that argument dont really wash remember top gear cant remember car but it put out less emisions than it sucked in marvelous things cars even good fr enviroment you can spin any argument see and no ones better at spin than our exulted leaders

How much more evidence do we need before we start to take some notice?

I think this thread has gone off topic, should we start a new one entitled "Global Warming and our responsibility?"

I do try to keep an open mind on all issues notwithstanding one with such potential dire consequences for humanity. It is with this attitude that I have been trying to find information on both sides of this argument, hence reading this......
http://www.constantskeptic.com/index...lobal-warming/

But it has no scientific back up it is simply one mans view wheras this....

does have the backing of several respected Doctors who are far more intelligent than I will ever be.

In the meantime I for one will not be burying my head in the sand.

We have bought no fuel today!

Its a pity we couldn't have got this on the hime page, or at least as a title to a thread to help it to have more impact!
