You can get the last recorded keeper from the DVLA. One of the reasons you could get it is exactly as you say, ie you used to own it
Go through their site and I think you have to pay £2.50
If it wasnt so long past its tax you can get the info free by saying it er bumped into your car in the car park Use that next time you want car info, just like the P.I.s do
