I am thinking of getting one of those, I noticed that vehicles fitted with them, seem to make better progress through the traffic for some reason.

If I got one of the Coastguard Terranos and the flashing lights it would help a lot.

Might look a bit suspicious, a Coastguard 4x4 "advertising" three hours drive from the coast lol...
If I was stopped, I'd just tell them we're expecting a very high tide lol...
If they said when, I'd reply... "The Day After Tomorrow" lol

I do like those trucks though..
If I was in the market, I might take a look... with a torch, hammer and mirror lol

Not sure if it is the same now, but many years ago, when we had the RAF rescue helicopters based at Manston airport, they would do a sea rescue, and then fly the people straight to either Canterbury, or Ashford hospital. The problem was, they would have to wait for the coastguard to get there, in order to be able to land, as the Coastguard were the only emergency service that had both air and emergency radios in the car, and could give the helicopter permission to land... There were a few nights where I saw a Coastguard car with blues on, heading away from the sea at high speed towards Ashford or Canterbury hospital.

Coastguard should be enough to make you run for the hills

I personally wouldn't go near them with a barge pole especially blind without seeing the underneath first, but each to their own

If you put your ear to the hole in the chassis, any hole, you can hear the sea!

Brilliant, really made me smile.

Probably if you wash out the chassis, it's probably full of crabs lol.

If you find barnacles on the rear diff, best to walk away lol.

Why didn't the Coastguard go hungry when he was on the beach?
Because of all the sand which is there.

I'll get my coat ...

I actually wanted to go and look atthe 12,000 mile truck just to see what it is like underneath but looking at bidding so far and the end time I reckon it'll go for sill money so couldn't be bothered going. Plus I sent the guy a message via ebay messaging system and he hasn't replied which rings alarm bells with me.

So will keep looking for a reasonable truck.
