£40 aint that bad . ( the desk stuff at 25mm was about 70 I think ) It's the theme of the room, desk top and doors and all that fine end grain . Also very few if any gaps in the layers , which is important for show ends
I'm hoping to be doing more home offices etc as there's so many people working from home these days

yep price is not that bad, very nice Pete, you are much more tidy minded and organised than I am, I have yet to decide what my full retirement man cave will look like, I love working with wood and have a fair bit of kit, but also like metal work turning on the lathe, but not so much kit, more thought required, but not now as got pub conversion coming up and too much to organise there, Rick

Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

No not really for what you've used it for but for a sub enclosure it's a bit to pricey for me to use for very little acoustic gain wouldn't care it's only a tiny bit more expensive than MDF in the US no wonder so many homes in the US are built from wood as timber is dirt cheap over there

You just need a split workshop Rick, wood work one side & metal work the other & the garage for the constant repairs/mods on Alex's truck

Right then how about HDF high density fibreboard ? More difficult to get hold of but should be better than Birch I'd have thought. You'll probably need to laminate some sheets together to get the thickness you need

So tidy...

My study/office looks as if a bomb has gone off! Sometimes I'm lucky if I can find a clear bit of floor to put my foot

Respect
