Default Roof spotlights - advice required

Ok I want spotlights on the roof............but on a budget!!

I have the roof bars but the thule bars to fit it in halfords are £40 and ebay are not much cheaper, so any ideas??

Also need rectangle lights? Any cheap places? Halfords for four are £56, disgusting, and cant find any on ebay just chrome round ones that I have on my other mav.

(might even just bolt them to the roof but the sunroof takes up a lot of that)

Thanks

Hello 4x4xford,

Did you see the roof pods with the 4 round lights built in in which we covered on here a short while ago and very reasonable price too.

I got all my gear at Halfords...Roof bar kit was about £70 all in and the spots were £20 a pair, could probably get them cheaper of ebay but i have this bad illness that when i get an idea,i have to do it KNOW!!...lol
Just measured and drilled four holes on the cross bar and attached the spots that way...makes them easier to come off if you need them off!

Sorry 4x4xford did you say yours has the factory roof rails :? If you do you could get a squared steel/alloy bar to go across the rails from one side to the other & fix it in place with something like exhaust claps & the mount the spots to the bar. It was the 1st thing I could think of doing it on the cheap ops:

Well funny you should mention that cause thats what I did first of all, mounted my round ones on a bar with exhaust clamps but thought it looked a bit to cheap!! how do thule bars fit in the rails??can something replicate that??

I went in to halfords and looked in there catalogues at what other cars used the same clamps and then looked on ebay for some bars. I ended up with some for £5 that the guy had had on a renault laguna. I've actually got skoda felicia estate roof rails too, but they are the same profile as T2/Mav ones, well they take the same clamps anyway.
