Default Hi all (with problems already!)

Hiya everyone!

Just registered on the site as I've searched google for about 2 hours trying to find the information I need, all to no avail!

We are having a 'few' issues with the Terrano 2, 2.4 we bought a few weeks back, if anybody can shed any light on them?

1) Only one of the electric windows works (front passenger), no response from the others.

2) The doors refuse to lock using the fob, or key. We got them locked once with the key, but had to call out the AA to help us break back in, as we couldnt get it unlocked! You can lock the whole car by sitting in it and using the interior passenger side lock, but the driver side one is resisting movement. I've had the door panel off, but couldnt see much.

3) I have just fit a towbar and have a wiring loom to route to the flasher unit which my searches online say is just behind the glovebox. I cant see it!

4) Related to 3, where the heck am I supposed to route the cables from the front of the car to the back for the towbar wiring?

5) Speedo is intermittent. It never shows the right speed, merely shoots up to whatever it fancies at the time, and often stays there until you remove the key. Starting the engine again sees it return to wherever it wants.

6) Car wont rev over 4000, and loses power if you try!

Cheers for any help you can give, I'm pulling my hair out over here!

welcome to the world of the t2

seems like you have a couple of eath problems i woud guess with the speedo

i would guess being the petrol the maff may need a clean or replacing reguards the power side seems to be a common problem on most cars

does the mil light up or did they have one on this model ?? (check engine light)

have you took it to a garage to have the diagnostics done as this will tell some problems

sure their is a down load for the towbar fitting but think you have to pay your member ship to gain access once you have done that it will be the best £10 you have spent in ur life lol

any way welcome to the site

Once you've paid up your tenner, you can checkout the online manual for faults etc
Tow bar elecs just join up behind rear lights lhs simples, no need to take the car apart to run them forward
Windows probably the solenoid.
Fuel filters, MAF, cracked manifold, not much help on the petrol ones

Windows could be turned off, the switch is between the seats.

Tow bar instructions say I need to replace the flasher unit relay with a heavy duty one (supplied) and run the cables back from there.

Where is the window solenoid? Or is it one for each window?

I'm not very mechanically minded, what's the MAF?

pritty sur their is one solenoid per window

MAF Mass Air Flow meter is normally attached to the airbox

what year is the car ? is the central locking a factory fit ??

yes you need to replace the flasher unit under the dash or just splice into the rear light conectors or buy the plug in unit for it
