Default AVM manual hubs

Anyone got these hubs, do you experience ratcheting noise? my new ones are very noisy and on an open diff, what is going to happen with my Lokka? bit concerned at the mo, will pull them off asap and have a look see but really do not think they should be making any noise at all, Rick

Super strong body cills capped with scaffold pole
20% stronger springs all round
aggressive off road tyres on wheels so just swap.
Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

I had them on my old terrano, fitted about 12 years ago. The instructions were poor from what I remember. Once fitted got a clicking noise so removed them again and had to remove another original washer or spacer from the original hub but I can’t remember all the details. Once sorted the hubs gave 10 years faultless service.

That doesn't sound good Rick!!!!

I know Rob had a set on his Y61 until one rolled off down the hill after his mechanics hadn't tightened it all back up right

I've got the AVM hubs and there is no noise, so something sounds wrong to me.

Hi Rick, what's the resistance like when you lock them in or free them up?
Does each side feel the same?

Some farmer might have used it as gate lock mechanism
We've seen some weird and wonderful ones while out on our travels.

I have had no time yet to check but yes I agree there should not be any noise, Rick

Both feel the same but I think surprisingly low resistance when turning them on? Rick

Shouldn't be very hard to turn, but definitely shouldn't be noisy at all, sounds like they aren't locking/unlocking properly

All now discovered, while driving today with the hubs "free" I had clicking now and again, then when parking going from lock to lock the steering made bad noises and part locked up, so abandoned work and came straight home to investigate, jacked it up and went from lock to lock and definitely not right, sounded more on the near side so locked the hub put the wheel on lock and tried to turn it, no go looks like the CVJ has broken up big time so off the road for now, will use the Mrs motor tomorrow as important job to do, but after that will be stripping the whole thing out to refurb the front axle complete including the Lokka, Rick
