Picked up some logs today, over 2 tonnes of them, here they are so out will be coming Mr chain saw soon, once Mrs motor is MOT'd, Rick

Got to admit that I admire you being so self sufficient and living off grid for the most part anyway. Whilst the rest of the country is worried about paying the ridiculous bills you’ll be sat there putting another log on the fire and sipping whiskey.

I usually wait till september to get the wood for the winter (already cutted).

as we say here, wood heats you up twice: when you stack it and when you burn it!

Yes Jim that is true, but consider the down side, we have a spring which is collected in a tank I sunk into the ground many years ago with a submersible pump pulling 250 watts, this power is needed as it has to pump over 100 mtrs and up by 5 mtrs so at the outlet it is a trickle, 4 or 5 hours a day is normally enough, but as the dry time has taken its toll 1 hour and the pump is sucking air so have had to modify the on off times to suite.

High levels of sunshine while are good for power input I need to very regularly monitor battery water levels, currently am purchasing 25 Ltr deionised water about once a month maybe more, also have to monitor acid levels at least once a week, I now use a spectrometer which is much faster and more accurate, this is just a sample of off grid requirements, Rick

Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.
