Try this Rick, I have zoomed in, and I think that the split running vertically ip between the bottom Wishbone bolt, and the smaller double bolts looks very wrong.

Thanks Ferret, I knew I wasn't imagining things.

I will go get more pictures later and see if I can get a clearer idea how bad this is and exactly which part needs replacing/welding.

yes you are right, I must get some new glasses, do not think I would be wanting to weld such an important part of the front suspension, it will in my view need to be replaced, but just been out and had a look and it is part of the chassis so weld it will have to be but only for a specialist welder, Rick

Okay, anyone know a realiable (and not too expensive) specialist welder near Bristol/Axbridge that could do this job?

Spoke to a local mechanic. He's had a look and reckons he can weld this up for £70 max. Should see about getting the O/S sill welding too, might even pass next years MoT then.

i had a good look at the rest whilst it was in the air. I know the O/S ARB drop link needed doing, but the track rod ends seem okay as do the drag links. There is a broken rubber though on the end of the steering bar, may not be an issue, but will see if I can replace that too. I don't think I can just replace the rubber part though.

Should be able to get it back running properly for £150. £70 welding, £70 Injector with sensor, MAF and CPS £10 Front ARB drop lnk

Typical, as I sat there on the forecourt coolant started leaking form the top hose too. Another little job I can be getting on with.

On the upside, I replaced the aerial that buyer had broken, so I can listen to the stereo in my broken up car :-)

Every cloud and all that
